Wine and dine route through the hills of Piacenza

GOURMET FOOD AND WINE TRAIL OF COLLI PIACENTINI This 150 km long trail goes along the four main valleys of Piacenza's Apennine, thus meeting different traditions, cultures, history and genuine tastes.

As to tastes, this area offers a wide range of them: DOC wines, DOP cold meats and cheese, not to mention first and second courses and desserts, all rich in scents and colors.

Very well known first courses are the following: panzerotti, tortelli con la coda( a kind of stuffed pasta having a characteristic "tail"), anolini, "pisarei e faso" "bomba di riso".

As to second courses, the best known are stracotti (stews), picula di cavallo (horse minced meat).

As to desserts we can't but mention: ciambella, almond cake, castagnaccio (chestnut cake) and turtlitt (fried carnival sweet dumplings).
