Alagna Free Ride Paradise

The Alagna Valley is the more difficult part of the Monterosa Ski, well known because of the access to the best off piste routes of the area but with easy connection with all the slopes of the area.

Alagna is the perfect goal for people looking for strong emotion but also for skiers looking for easy ski, in an untouched high mountain environment, far from the crowd of the biggest resort.

The easy slopes of the Wold area and the snow park in Pianalungacrown the proposals for the children

Ski mountaneering

ValsesiaSki touring on the Monte Rosa, many 4000 easy and houte routes with breathless panoramas in high mountain environment but also daily tours in the untouched area of the Natural Park Alta Valsesia.

The Capanna Gnifetti refuge, located at a quota of 3647 meters on a rocky spur that divides the Lys Glacier from the Garstelet, is among the biggest and most prestigious of the Alps. Solidly mounted on the rock of it's mountain it has been there for over a century of history and legend.

As it is situated in a strategic position it is the crossroads and starting point for the best climb on Monte Rosa: the most famous is the climb to 4552 meters of the Punta Gnifetti (Signalkuppe), where the Capanna Regina Margherita, the highest refuge in Europe, is.

ValsesiaHeli-skiing

Alagna is still as it has always been, untouched by mass tourism. It offers infinite possibilities for day trips and thanks to the heli-ski service, which is of course run with all the necessary controls and in compliance with regulatory requirements, more demanding skiers can find fresh winter snow itineraries even in spring, skiing on the upper slopes of Monte Rosa (4,552 mt.).

By taking the helicopter to the Colle del Lys at 4,200 meters you can ski down to Zermatt, then take the cable-car up the Klein Matterhorn and return to Alagna through the whole of the Monterosaski area: a unique experience

Free-riding

ValsesiaThe possibilities for off piste skiing here is unlimited and vastly undiscovered. With two thousand meters of vertical descent from the Punta Indren you are clearly spoilt for choice.

Steep couloirs filled with snow or open fields of untracked powder are guaranteed to fatigue even the strongest of legs. Hidden itineraries holding excellent snow even days after the last snow fall are waiting to fulfill a life's dream. It's all here waiting for you to discover.

Fantastic routes between the old walser hamlets or hidden in the trees of the Natural Park Alta Valsesia, looking for hectares of virgin snow instead of km of slopes

Valsesia Cross Country Skiing

A 10 km circuit of cross country ski trails, well-kept and sunny, are to be found in the valley between Riva Valdobbia and Alagna against the beautiful backdrop of the upper reaches of the Valsesia valley.
The trail runs along the river Sesia below the fantastic view of the south side of the Monte Rosa massif.

Main Features of the cross country circuits

  • Lowest Point 1122 mt.
  • Highest Point 1191 mt.
  • 3 Km circuit: easy
  • 5 Km circuit: average
  • 10Km circuit: average

Ice climbing

ValsesiaDiscover the frozen world of water, as we choose our climb for the day. In the valley below the towering Monte Rosa massif, frozen waterfalls stretch up the walls of the valley like giant tongues. This is a true playground for the winter ice climbers. Walking on the walser paths or using the lifts of Alagna is the best way to reach the most impressive iced water falls of the area to feel the adrenaline and the excitement of climbing with ice axes and crampons. An experience to savor.
